HUGO MOONSHOT
FLORIDA HARVESTER ANT
- x35-
Hugo Moonshot Florida Harvester Ant was born with a sense of self awareness uncommon in even the formicary’s wise queen. Still only a
toddler, his vocabulary is proportionately sized but, regardless, he engages and charms everyone. Ask him to be mad, and he playfully
responds with a curled lip and furrowed brow; request sad and he’ll return a full-on pout. These faces are always fleeting though, because
little Hugo knows that what you do and what you think create who and what you are.
While he seems naturally outgoing, he is, instead, rather introverted and very much aware of his small stature, making him a bit shy. Sometimes it’s tough, feeling small and alone, even when smack in the middle of a colony of thousands. Hugo works extra hard on his friendships and connecting with others, but relishes his time alone, too.
Of late, his most favourite “toy” is an old flashlight he found in the woods. It was almost too big to drag home, but has been well worth the
effort, perfect for reading his Archie Comics after dark and, best, for shining the beam back on himself. Doing this, he gleefully creates all
sorts of imagery, dreaming up silly tales to accompany each shadow puppet. As he’s about to tuck his flashlight away for tomorrow night’s
theatrics and stories, he always takes one last peek at the image on the wall. It is him, but bigger. He keeps this visual in his mind’s eye
whenever he needs bolstering, knowing that his larger than life shadow is more than just figuratively ‘him’.
